Our goal is to move Haitians from "Aid" to "Enterprise". In consultation with local leaders, we have determined that "hands-on" training and mentoring is an essential part of helping Haitians help themselves. Accordingly, a trades training facility is being established near Cap Haitian to provide essential skills training to enable Haitians to develop employable skills or the skills necessary to start a small business.

To implement our strategy, we have acquired property and over the past year have completed a secure boundary wall as well as on-site accomodations. The photos below reflect the work being done in the January 27 - February 7, 2014 time frame. The facilities are now capable of hosting teams .... for future work being contemplated... including tradesmen (Trainers) needed to "Train the Trainer" that we anticipate will begin in October 2014.

The training facility for trades is a two building complex. An open air classroom with a roof to shield students from the harsh sun and torrential rains. The second building is a functional skills (ie. trades) training facility (warehouse) that is enclosed to secure the equipment and supplies needed to operate the program.

Jason Walker of EllisDon in Ottawa led a team of tradesmen to Haiti in late January and by February 7 - the training facility for substantially complete.
